ECAC Announces Women's Soccer Players of the Month for September
DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women's Soccer Players of the Month for September 2019.
Division II
Offensive Player of the Month
Kerrianne Scorce, Sr., Forward, Adelphi University
Scorce led Adelphi in September with 10 points, scoring four goals and adding two assists as the Panthers are off to a 4-2 start to the 2019 season. She assisted on two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-0 upset of then-No. 8 Southern New Hampshire University.
Defensive Player of the Month
Brooke Myers, Sr., Goalkeeper, West Chester University
Myers has been a consistent presence in goal for the Rams, starting all seven games this season and producing a 6-1-0 record. Facing 45 shots over the course of 564:40 minutes in goal, she has given up only three goals for a .43 goals against average while producing 21 saves.
Rookie of the Month
Sarah Costanza, Fr., Forward, Caldwell University
Sarah Costanza started all six games she has played in to start her collegiate career, leading the way for the Cougars. The freshman has tallied five points on 24 shots, producing two goals and an assist.
Division III - North
Offensive Player of the Month
Mikayla Blumenstock, Jr., Forward, Utica College
Mikayla Blumenstock was scoring at a torrid pace in September leading the Empire 8 in shots on goal, goals, and points. In her eight games, the junior forward was recorded 10 goals and an assist for 21 points.
Defensive Player of the Month
Allison Wagner, Sr., Goalkeeper, Utica College
Wagner dominated in goal for Utica to the tune of three Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week awards. She had a shutout streak spanning 397:42 from the end of the 2018 season through the team's fifth match of the 2019 season. Wagner leads the Empire 8 in saves by 17 while sporting the best save percentage in the conference at .920.
Rookie of the Month
Hannah Fuller, Fr., Goalkeeper, Alfred University
Fuller Earned Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week once this season after producing a shutout streak of exactly 398:00 minutes. In her 714:09 minutes of action, Fuller has only given up four goals for a .50 goals against average with 24 saves on 49 shots faced.
Division III - South
Offensive Player of the Month
Kayla Trozzi, Sr., Forward, Westminster College
Trozzi has scored seven goals for the Titans and nets them in big moments as she is currently tied for second in the Division III rankings with four game-winning goals with four in her 10 games played. The PAC Offensive Player of the Week of September 3 has tacked on 2 assists for 16 points total.
Defensive Player of the Month
Emma Hill, Jr., Goalkeeper, Salisbury University
Hill is the bedrock of the Salisbury defense, having played every single minute so far this season. The two-time CAC Player of the Week has given up only six goals so far this season with 24 saves and a .64 goals against average.
Rookie of the Month
Alex Adams, Fr., Forward, Carnegie Mellon University
Despite only starting five of his team's nine games, Adams leads the team in goals with seven and points with 15. She produced two multi-goal games this season, leading to three game winning goals for the Tartans.
Division III - Metro
Offensive Player of the Month
Mallensy Vargas, Sr., Midfield, NJCU
Vargas was named the NCAA Division III National Player of the Week September 17, 2019, and what a week it was producing an incredible 29 points on 12 goals and five assists in a four-game span. Vargas is amongst the NCAA National leaders in goals (16), goals per game (1.78), points (39) and points per game (4.33) and is second nationally in Division III in game-winning goals.
Defensive Player of the Month
Ashley Paulino, Jr., Goalkeeper, FDU - Florham
Paulino has the Devil's program off to its best start in history at 8-1-1 while logging 796:12 minutes in goal. She's given up 8 goals and a .90 goals against average while logging an astounding 41 saves on 67 shots faced.
Rookie of the Month
Natalie Aracena, Fr., Midfield, Manhattanville College
Aracena hit the ground running in her first collegiate season as she leads the Valiants in goals (8), points (18) and shots on goal percentage (.762).She is third on the team in shots on goal (16) and tied for fourth in assists (2). Her month is highlighted by a seven-point effort with a hat-trick and an assist against Yeshiva.
