ECAC Announces Men's Cross Country Runners of the Month for October
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men’s Cross Country Runners of the Month for October 2019.
Division II
Runner of the Month
Kyuande Johnson, Sr., Lincoln University
Johnson earned All-CIAA honors for the second consecutive year with a tenth-place finish at the CIAA Championship. His time of 28:29.9 was a season best and led the Lions to a fourth-place finish. Johnson was 12th among all DII runners at the HBCU Challenge in with a time of 31:32.3
Rookie of the Month
Austin Wilson, Fr, Lincoln University
Wilson has been Lincoln's #3 runner. He helped the Lions to a fourth-place finish at the CIAA championships with a personal-best 8K time of 30:19.1. Wilson made his collegiate debut at the HBCU Challenge at placing 43rd out of 91 DI and DII runners with a time of 33:40.
Division III – North
Runner of the Month
Jake Davis, Jr., RPI
Davis paced his team in both meets this October. He ran a 24:47.3 8k at the NCAA Pre-Nationals and a 24:52.0 8k at the Connecticut College Invitational. The two-time Liberty League Runner of the Week led his team to fifth place of 40 at NCAA Pre-Nationals and third of 27 at Connecticut College Invitational.
Division III - South
Runner of the Month
Patrick Watson, Sr., Stevenson University
Watson repeats as Runner of the Month as he notched two more wins. In his two races this October Watson placed first at the Don Cathcart Invitational and first at the Rowan Inter-Region Border Battle with an 8k time of 24:00.1
Rookie of the Month
Zachary Deming, Fr, Salisbury University
Freshman Zachary Deming got his top ten finish, placing seventh at the Hood Open 8k with a time of 26:43.4. He rounded out his month placing 23
rd at the Don Cathcart Invitational.
Division III – Metro
Runner of the Month
Daniel Do, Jr, Stockton University
Do continues to lead the way for Stockton as the top finisher on his team. Do ran in the NJIT Highlander Challenge 8K in a time of 25:22.55, good for fourth place out of 277.
Rookie of the Month
Will Bucher, Fr., U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Bucher continues to be the Mariners' best freshman runner. Bucher came in ninth at the Skyline Championships with a time of 29:25.38 and earned Second Team All-Skyline. Bucher’s month is highlighted by n 18th place finish out of 178 at the Mount Saint Mary College Knight Invitational.
