ECAC Announces 2019 Division I Men's Soccer All-ECAC

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2019 Division I Men’s Soccer All-ECAC Team.
 
New Hampshire were big winners as Josh Bauer claimed Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second year in a row and Marc Hubbard won Coach of the Year. Manuel Ferriol of James Madison University won Offensive Player of the Year. Stefan Sigurdarson from Boston College earned Rookie of the Year.

Ferriol capped off his career in style. He broke the school record for points in a season with 38 and 16 goals in 2019, all while tacking on six assists. The CAA Player of the Year’s season was highlighted when he was named United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week, Top Drawer Soccer and College Soccer News National Player of the Week, and College Soccer News National Team of the Week for scoring a goal in a win against No. 1 Wake Forest then promptly following up with a hat trick in his next game.

Bauer takes home his second consecutive ECAC Defensive Player of the Year award after his second consecutive America East Defender of the Year award. The defender was the first player in program history to be a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist. Bauer also won the America East Tournament MVP for the second consecutive season, only the second player to accomplish that honor. While anchoring the defense, the junior also managed to put in four goals and record five assists.

Stefan Sigurdarson has been the highest scoring freshman in four years for BC. He was named to the All-ACC Freshman team as well as the All-ACC Third Team after he led the team with eight goals and four assists for 20 points. He had two two-goal games, including two vs. Wake Forest in a win.

Hubbard led the UNH staff that won the America East Coaching Staff of the Year Award. The team posted its best winning percentage (.825) in school history and tied the program record with 15 wins. The team was nationally ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll every week except for the first week of the season and reached as high as No. 13. The team won the America East Co-Regular Season Championship and its second straight America East Tournament Championship, earning its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
