ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards
DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its weekly awards for women's gymnastics for the week of competition ending Feb. 3.
Division I
Gymnast of the Week
Monica Servidio - Temple University, So., Howell, New Jersey
Servidio won her second all-around title this past weekend as Temple would go on to be victorious against university of Pittsburg and University of North Carolina. Overall the sophomore scored a 39.025 in the all-around. She posted or tied a career-best on vault (9.775), bars (9.75) and beam (9.9). Rounding out her all-around score was a 9.6 for her floor routine. Not only did Servidio win the all-around, she also placed second on the uneven bars and the balance beam.
Specialist of the Week
Jordyn Mannino - University of Pennsylvania, So., Manhasset, New York
Mannino scored her career high on bars last weekend achieving a mark of 9.825. The scored helped the Quakers hit a team season high on the event with a 48.525. Her other event of the day came on the floor where she scored a 9.775. Her marks aided in the Quakers season high meet score as the defeated both Cornell and Brown.
Rookie of the Week
Mei Li Costa - Brown University, Fr., Lawrenceville, New Jersey
Costa earns her second rookie of the week honors in 2019. The freshman won both of her events, vault and uneven bars, as the Brown Bears competed against rivals Penn and Cornell. Her winning vault score was a 9.725. Her uneven bars score of 9.875, not only won her the event, but set a new career high for the freshman giving her the second-highest score in school history.
Coaches Choice
Payton Murphy - Cornell University, Jr., Stow, Ohio
Murphy helped Cornell in a big way this past weekend. The team needed her score on the uneven bars to avoid counting a fall on the event. The sophomore after just being cleared for activity joined the Big Red bars line-up this weekend. She went on to score a 9.2 to help the squad.
Division II
Gymnast of the Week
Hannah Stahlbrodt - Southern Connecticut State University, Fr., Cicero, New York
Stahlbrdot finished second in the all-around competition at the Don Tonry Invitational. She scored a 38.65, a mark that is the second-highest all-around in program history. For the individual events the freshman scored a 9.55 on vault, a 9.8 on the uneven bars placing her in fifth, a 9.575 on the balance beam and a 9.725 for her floor exercise.
Specialist of the Week
Kelly Aycock - University of Bridgeport, Sr., Locust Grove, Georgia
Aycock competed in two events for the Purple Knights last weekend. She scored the second highest uneven bars score for the team with a 9.775. She would go on to earn a second-place finish on the floor achieving a mark of 9.85.
Rookie of the Week
Julianna Roland - University of Bridgeport, Fr., Lumberton, New Jersey
Roland reach the score of 39 in the all-around for the first time in her young collegiate career. The freshman finished with a 39.075, a mark that would capture her first place at the Don Tonry Invitational. She did not score lower then a 9.7 on any event. On vault she posted a high score of 9.875, scored a 9.75 on both the uneven bars and balance beam and filled out her all-around mark with a 9.7 floor routine.
Coaches Choice
Cassie Hageman - West Chester University, Sr., Carlisle, Pennsylvania
Hageman had a great meet for the Golden Rams as the senior leader tied for third on the balance beam. She would score a 9.65 for the team and then compete on the floor as well scoring a 9.55.
