Albany, Navy win ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. - Albany and Navy took home team titles following two days of competition at the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Track and Field Championships which concluded Sunday, May 12 at Weaver Stadium in Princeton, N.J.
Albany surged to the ECAC Women's Championship with a strong second day that included a one-two finish in the high jump by Anika Hibbard and Victoria Stoffel and a first-place time in the 100 meters by Chidima Matthews. Albany finished with 76 points, outdistancing second-place Towson's 73 points and third-place Cornell at 61.
The ECAC Female Performer of the Meet was Maura Kimmel from Penn, who finished runner-up in both the shot put and discus throw.
On the men's side, Navy held on to its first-day lead and won the IC4A in convincing fashion. The Midshipmen finished the championship with 109 points, comfortably ahead of second-place Monmouth's 67 points. William & Mary finished third with 38 points.
Navy had three first place finishes on the final day. Stefano Pineda cleared 16-11 to win the pole vault. Sean Brennan had a toss of 55-8 to with the shot put and Clayton Thompson and teammate Kordell Williams finished one-two in the 110-meter hurdles. Monmouth finished runner-up in the men's championship, followed by William & Mary.
The top eight men performers in each event will be named All-East and the top eight for the women will receive All-ECAC honors. A total of 25 women's teams scored team points in the event while the men had 42 teams finish with at least one point.
