DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division I Awards and All-ECAC selections in women's lacrosse for the 2019 season.
Sam Apuzzo from Boston College was named ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, while Caroline Sdanowich from James Madison University took the Defensive Player of the Year honor. The United States Military Academy’s Caroline Raymond was voted the Rookie of the Year. Boston College head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein was named Coach of the Year.

Sdanowich anchored the defense for James Madison, starting all 20 games for the Dukes. The senior was the only player in the CAA to rank in the top 10 in ground balls (42), caused turnovers (38) and draws (72). She ranks third all-time at JMU in career caused turnovers and tied for 12th in career ground balls. For her efforts, Sdanowich was named CAA Defensive Player of the Year.
Raymond made history for Army West Point becoming the first cadet in program history to receive a major postseason award, being named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year after winning Patriot League Rooking of the Week five times during the season. She compiled a program-best 67 points, marking the first-ever 60-point season in program history. Raymond set the program single season record for assists with 24 and had the second most goals scored in a season with 43. The freshman recorded multi-point outings in all 18 games and ranked top-10 in the Patriot League in goals per game (2.39), assists per game (1.33) and points per game (3.72).
Acacia Walker-Weinstein led the BC program to their second consecutive undefeated regular season along with the regular season ACC title. For the first time ever, the Eagles have two athletes on the Tewaaraton Award finalist list. Walker-Weinstein’s success has led BC to their highest-ever national seed for the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2-seed and will play in their second consecutive final four this season.
