DANBURY, Conn – As the ECAC Esports program enters its third year, its numbers have swelled to nearly fifty participating schools and has added Rocket League and Madden to the lineup of games offered. Well over 200 teams will participate in ECAC Esports competition this year, up dramatically from the 107 that competed last year.  The Conference again plans to host its ECAC Esports Championships at HV Gamer Con in Albany in April, in partnership with the Albany Capital Center and the Center for Economic Growth.

ECAC Esports has partnered this year with Gaming Insomniacs, an up and coming New York Esports organization, that will host an ECAC in-person championship in March at the Gaming Insomniacs’ competition facility in Schenectady.  The ECAC will also unveil a women’s-only league to help its membership encourage and facilitate women’s participation in esports. The all women’s league will not replace women’s participation in the co-ed leagues but serve as an additional opportunity.  The ECAC’s Alumni Esports program commences this fall as well.

ECAC Esports competition for the fall season will begin the third week of September.  Schools wishing to participate may become a member of the ECAC Esports program by contacting the ECAC in the next ten days to register for the upcoming year.
