ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards
DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its weekly awards for Women's Gymnastics for the week of competition ending Jan. 19th.
Division I

Gymnast of the Week
Ariana Castrence – Temple University, So., Waldorf, MD
Ariana Castrence was nothing short of spectacular in Temple’s home opener Pink Meet on Saturday night. The sophomore broke the program’s all-around record with a 39.275 (9.8- vault, 9.8- bars, 9.825- beam, 9.85- floor). Castrence also won the event title on all four events to help propel the Cherry and White to victories over Cortland and SCSU.

Specialist of the Week
Madison Smith – Cornell University, Jr., Houston, TX
Cornell had two meets this past weekend to open the 2020 season. At Towson on Friday night, Maddie led the team on both beam and floor, her 9.8 on beam helping the Big Red hit a new first meet beam team scoring record of 48.7. On Sunday afternoon, Maddie's floor score of 9.75 again led the team, and that same score on beam solidified a fantastic start for her.

Rookie of the Week
Rebekah Lashley – Penn, Fr., Millville, MA
Freshman, Rebecca Lashley had a solid performance this past weekend. She scored a career high on beam with a 9.750 which helped Penn score a season high on beam with a 48.7. Her floor score of 9.750 and vault score of 9.525 helped Penn score a season team high 192.850.

Coaches Choice
Emma Hansen – Brown University, Jr., Cincinnati, OH
Emma Hansen performs big routines for the Bears week after week. She remains calm and always gives it her all. Emma's clutch performances are key to Brown's success. She earned a CAREER-HIGH 9.825 on beam this weekend in a tough and very loud quad meet. She was poised and fierce for her team.
Division II

Gymnast of the Week
Julianna Roland – University of Bridgeport, So., Lumberton, NJ
Roland wowed the entire coaching staff, the crowd and her teammates in Sunday's home opener. She brought in a 9.825 on bars, which is a personal best for the sophomore all-around competitor. She matched that score on the balance beam, which was the highest score on the team. In just the second meet of the season, Julianna scored over a 39 in the all- around. All of her scores counted towards the team total of a 193.625.

Specialist of the Week
Sarah Boyd – West Chester University, Sr., Saint Petersburg, FL
Sarah had another amazing day on the balance beam under a lot of pressure. Her score of 9.8 tied for second place.

Rookie of the Week
Katy Koopman – University of Bridgeport, Fr., Kaneohe, HI
Koopman began the meet in Bridgeport with a sky-high tuck full Yurchenko to improve on her 8.95 debut in Florida. After a solid exhibition performance in the first meet, Katy worked her way into the beam lineup and stuck her triple series for a personal best 9.775. She ended her meet with a n impressive triple full for a 9.5 on floor.

Coaches Choice
Yoli Nodarse – West Chester University, Jr., Pompton Plains, NJ
Yoli had two very strong performances on the uneven bars and balance beam. On both events the pressure was high due to counting some falls. Yoli handled the pressure very well and stepped up when the team needed it.
