ECAC Announces Women's Gymnastics Weekly Awards 2/26/2020 1:06:27 PM DANBURY, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announces its weekly awards for Women's Gymnastics for the week of competition ending Feb. 23rd. Division I Gymnast of the Week Sydney Kraez – Penn, So., Longmeadow, MA Sophomore, Sydney Kraez matched her personal best on vault with a 9.825 placing her second on the event which helped Penn win the event outright along with tying the Quakers record in program history and posting a season high of 48.775. On beam she also matched her personal best with a 9.75, placing her in 7th. Her score helped the Red & Blue tie the beam record in program history with a 49.125. Yet, more impressive, she set a career high on floor with a 9.9 placing second; and a career high in the all-around winning the all-around with a 39.05. Her scores helped Penn win the 2020 Ivy Championship title with a 194.850 which is the second highest score in program history. Photo Credit: Patrick Shanahan/ Cornell Athletics Specialist of the Week Claire Haklik – Cornell Universisty, Jr., Atlanta, GA Claire won the floor exercise competition at the Ivy League Championship for the second straight year, tying the Ivy League championship record as well as her own personal record of 9.925. Rookie of the Week Brianna Greenlow – William & Mary, Fr., Suwanee, GA This was Brianna's first double meet weekend in her college career. She was able to improve from Friday's meet and take the floor title, as well as hit her career-high all-around score which was a 38.825. Coaches Choice Tori Edwards – Temple University, Jr., Haymarket, VA Tori Edwards was a force for the Owls in their two competitions this weekend. Her trademark is her consistency, which helped propel Temple to one of its most successful weekends of the season. On Friday in the Pink Invite, Edwards earned a 9.725 on both vault and bars and tallied a 9.775 on floor. She continued her excellent performance on Sunday at George Washington’s quad meet, as she scored another 9.725 on vault and a 9.7 on floor. The Haymarket, Va. native came up huge for the Cherry and White on bars, posting a career-high 9.875 to earn a share of the event title. Edwards was key in helping the bars lineup tally a 49.3, which is the second-highest score on the event in program history (49.3) and their first score of 49+ on the event since 2004. Division II Gymnast of the Week Hannah Stahlbrodt – Southern Connecticut State University, So., Cicero, NY At the annual Pink Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa., Hannah Stahlbrodt led the Owls with an All-Around score of 38.4250. She matched her season-best on the Vault with a 9.7250 and posted her top Floor score of the season at 9.7750. She also scored a 9.7750 on the Beam. Stahlbrodt finished tied for fifth on the vault, fourth on the beam and fifth on the floor. Specialist of the Week Yoli Nodarse – West Chester University, Jr., Pompton Plains, NJ Yoli had a very strong double meet weekend. On Friday she had a 9.7 on the uneven bars then came back with a 9.725 on Sunday which was a tie for 4th place. On balance beam Yoli had a 9.6 on Friday and an impressive 9.825 on Sunday finishing first on that event with her season high score. Rookie of the Week Samantha Kelly – West Chester University, Fr., Mullica Hill, NJ Samantha Kelly had back to back hits this weekend. She went 9.725 on Friday night which was the highest score for her team on that event and had a 9.6 on Sunday. Coaches Choice Jordan Peloquin – Southern Connecticut State University, Jr., Greenville, RI Jordan Peloquin returned to the Floor exercise for the first time since Jan. 18 due to an injury and posted her top score of the season with a 9.750 for eighth place. She also posted her second-best beam score of the season with a 9.7250 for seventh place.
