Day One Complete for the IC4A and ECAC Championships
BOSTON, Mass. – Day one of the 2020 Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships kicked off at Boston University Friday with four events of each the heptathlon and pentathlon.
IC4A Championships
Jordan Torney (Connecticut) is leading the way after the first four events of the heptathlon with 2,966 points. The junior finished first in the 60m dash (7.09) and the long jump (7.19m) while taking third in both the high jump (1.82m) and the shot put (12.10m).
Troy Zanger (Binghamton) is sitting in second with 2,776 points just ahead of Nicholas Pronovost (Connecticut) with 2,776. Alex Parasky (Vermont), 2,703, and Benjamin Grosse (Connecticut), 2,651, round out the top-five after the first four events Friday.
Zanger and Grosse earned wins in the high jump (1.91m) and the shot put (12.61m), respectively.
ECAC Championships
Dominique Biron (Northeastern) sits at the top of the leaderboard following the opening five events of the pentathlon with a pair of first-place finishes in the 800m (2:23.02) and the high jump (1.66m) along with a second place finish in the shot put (11.84m). The freshman took fourth in the 60m hurdles (9.16) and finished in seventh in the long jump (5.21m) to close out Friday night’s activities.
Kelly Ward (Connecticut) is sitting in second place behind Biron with a total of 3,520 points as Dejah Grant (Hampton) is in third with 3,509. Bosibori Monosngo (New Hampshire), 3,447, and Ani Boghossian-James (Towson), 3,349, round out the top five following day one.
Ward took home medalist honors in the long jump with a mark of 5.35m. Stephanie Hyde (Albany) and Antonia Frazier (St. John’s) each added a first-place finish in the other two events. Hyde in the 60m hurdles (8.99) and Frazier in the shot put at 12.65m.
The 2020 Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) and ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships will continue on Saturday at Boston University starting with the IC4A heptathlon 60HH, high jump, long jump and weight throw at 10 a.m.
