ECAC Announces Men's Soccer Players of the Month for September 2021

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men’s Soccer Players of the Month for September 2021.

Division II
Player of the Month
Rodrigo Descalzo Rocca - So., Forward, Adelphi University

Rodrigo Descalzo Rocca was clutch for Adelphi this September, having netted three consecutive game-winners between September 22 and September 28, leading the NE10 with those three game-winning goals. The sophomore posted six goals and two assists. 

Division III – North
Player of the Month
Josh Guadiano, Jr., Forward, RPI

The team leader in goals, points, shots, shots on goal and game-winning goals, Guadiano has led the Engineers to 6-1-1 record, including 2-0 start to conference season while his team is on a seven-game unbeaten streak.

Goalkeeper of the Month
Luke Brezak, Sr, Goalkeeper, RPI

Brezak is the team leader in all goalkeeping categories as the starter in every match this year. He has posted four consecutive shutouts, going 360:25 minutes without allowing a goal. Brezak stood out and made a season-high seven saves against nationally fifth-ranked Oneonta.

Division III – South
Player of the Month
Leonardo Torres, Fr, Forward, Marymount University

Torres raked in awards for the September he had, picking up three Atlantic East Offensive Player of the Week awards and was the first Marymount player to win the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week award. Torres ranks second in the Country in points (28) and goals (11), and 10th in the nation in points per game (2.80)

Goalkeeper of the Month
Tommy Packevicz, Fr, Goalkeeper, Penn State – Altoona

Packevicz ranks first in the AMCC in wins (7), second in shutouts (2), third in goals against average (1.67), fourth in save percentage (.740). He has posted 37 saves on 50 shots faced so far this season.

Rookie of the Month
Grady Ballard, Fr, Forward, Penn State – Altoona

Ballard leads the AMCC in goals (11), assists (6), points (28), penalty kicks (2-2), game-winning goals (3), and shots on goal (27). He is second in the conference in shots (46). For his efforts Ballard was named conference Offensive Player of the Week once in September.

Division III – Metro
Player of the Month
Arkan Tahsildaroglu, So, Forward, New York University

Tahsildaroglu is the NYU team leader in goals with 10 and also leads the UAA in goals with five more than the second-highest player. He leads the UAA in points with 21, which is eight more than second-highest player. He has posted three multi-goal games including two hat tricks.

Goalkeeper of the Month
Luca Mancuso, Jr, Goalkeeper, New York University

Mancuso is fifth in UAA in saves (18) and fourth in UAA in save percentage (.857) and is second in the UAA in goals-against average at .41. Mancuso has posted back-to-back shutouts twice thus far and had a season-high seven saves in NYU’s shutout of Stevens.

Rookie of the Month
Derek Vanasse, Fr, Midfield, USMMA

Vanasse has started every game for the Mariners primarily at midfield and ranks third on the team with nine points on three goals and three assists. Two of his three goals were game winners for the Mariners.
