ECAC Announces Women's Cross Country Runners of the Month for September 2021
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Month for September 2021.
Division III – North
Runner of the Month
Nia Goddard, Jr., RPI
Goddard paced her team to wins in both her races in September and was rewarded with Liberty League Performer of the Week each time. At the Ron Stonitsch Invitational she ran a 6:08 per mile pace and won with a 10-second edge over runner-up. At the Saratoga Invitational she ran at a 6:14 pace and a 15-second advantage over second place finisher when she finished at 23:11.0.
Rookie of the Month
Alli Sibold, Fr., St. Lawrence University
Sibold raced three times in September, earning Liberty League Performer of the Week once and Rookie of the Week twice. She won the Hoffmann Invitational 6k with a time of 23:09.5, along with the Hamilton Short Course 4k at 14:49.5. She placed second at the Plattsburgh State XC Opener with a 5k time of 19:25.4.
Division III – South
Runner of the Month
Lydia Bennett, Fr., Grove City College
Bennett dominated the PAC Rookie of the Week selections, earing it three times for all three of her races. Her best finish was at the Chatham Preview where she placed second in the 6k with a time of 27:16.3. She rounded out her month with a ninth place finish at the Allegheny Invitational and an eighth place finish at the Westminster Invitational.
Rookie of the Month
Hayley Long, Fr., Salisbury University
Long had an impressive showing at the SU Fall Classic, where she finished behind three Division I runners and was the only Division III runner in the top 14. Her time in the 6k was 22:57.7. She rounded out her month with a fourth-place finish at the Captain Chris Invitational with a time of 24:36.9.
Division III – Metro
Runner of the Month
Sayra Raya, Fr., U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Raya was named the Skyline Runner of the Week after all three races she ran throughout the month of September. She had a fifth place at a primarily DIII race; a 16th place finish at a primarily DII race; and a 40th place finish at a primarily DI race. Her 5th-place finish came when she led the Mariners to a second-place team showing at the second race of the Mount St. Mary XC Series when she crossed the finish line in 27:36.3.
Rookie of the Month
Gianna Dickson, Fr., St. Joseph’s College
Dickson collected one Skyline Runner of the Week and two Rookie of the Weeks for her three races this September for SJC. She was the top DIII runner at the Fred Pavlich Invitational and third DIII runner at the Adelphi Invitational. She placed first at the Purchase Invitational with a 6k time of 21:24.4.

The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-two-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast.
