ECAC Announces Women’s Basketball Players of the Month for January

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Men’s Basketball Players of the Month for January 2022.

Division III – North
Player of the Month
Sam Hourihan, Jr., Forward, Springfield College

Hourihan averaged a double-double with 18.3 points per game and 10.6 rebounds. She was named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week once and was the Hampton Inn/West Springfield Naismith Classic MVP.

Division III – South
Player of the Month
Olivia Coleman, So, Center, Stevenson University

Coleman recorded her 1,000th career point against Messiah on January 12 and posted a career high 28 points against Lebanon Valley on January 22. She had four double-doubles during the month of January.

Rookie of the Month
Ellie Matthews, Fr, Guard/Forward, Penn State – Altoona

Matthews was named the AMCC Player of the Week on January 31. She set a new Penn State Altoona single game rebounds record with 20 against Pitt-Bradford. She averaged a double-double with 16.2 points and 10.3 rebounds.

Division III – Metro
Player of the Month
Averi Jordan, Sr, Forward, DeSales University

Averi Jordan was named MAC Freedom Player of the Week once. She led her team to a perfect 6-0 record while leading the team in scoring at 21.8 PPG and second in rebounding at 9.8 RPG.

Rookie of the Month
Jada Thompson, Fr, Guard, Ramapo College

Thompson has earned NJAC Rookie of the Week five times this season including twice in the month of January. She has led the Roadrunners with six double-doubles and four in the month of January. She leads the team this month in points, rebounds, assists while she nearly recorded a triple-double against MSU on 1/26.
