Midshipmen, Black Knights hold to claim outdoor titles

FAIRFAX, Va. - The 2024 IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships drew to a close on Sunday afternoon, with the Navy men and the women of Army holding their leads from Saturday to pick up the team titles. The Midshipmen dominated on the men’s side with 133 total points, while the Black Knight women held off Richmond with a team score of 83.75.
 
Ava Roberts (49.96m/163’ 11”) of UMBC began the day with a win in the women’s discus, while George Mason’s Robert Kestyn (54.16m/177’ 8”) followed with a win on the men’s side. FDU senior Salif Mane slid into fourth nationally in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 16.50m (54’ 1¾”), with Alicia Dawson of Richmond coming up with a PR distance of 12.68m (41’ 7¼”) to win the women’s event.
 
On the track, Rhode Island’s squad of Tristen Howard, Jolon O’Connor, Liam Creeley and Jarrett Young turned in a new season-best in the men’s 4x100 relay. Fordham’s Dillyn Green, Skylar Harris, Caroline Fallona and Kyla Hill picked up the conference crown with a time of 46.59, holding off a late threat from St. Joseph’s.
 
David Niang of St. Francis recorded a new PR in the finals of the men’s 110 hurdles, doing so with a time of 13.92, and Delaware’s Catherine Glenn (13.52) narrowly edged Antoinette Galloway for the individual title in the women’s race. Michael Arnold (51.41) of UMBC set a new PR held off Navy’s Jacques Guillaume for a crown in the men’s 400, and Delaware State’s Chidebum Okwudibonye came away with the women’s title with a time of 59.08.
 
In the 400, Navy’s Nathan Kent (46.41) took home the men’s title with a new PR, with USMB senior Caitlyn Bobb (53.84) producing a season-best en route to an event. Albany senior Shakur Williams won the men’s 100 with a time of 10.31, and fellow Great Dane Dominique Clarke followed with a championship time of 11.50 in a tight finish.
 
Kent added a win in the 200 with a time of 21.06, and Harvard’s Egbe Ndip-Agbor (24.10) picked up the win on the women’s side.
 
The UMBC group of Zachary Taylor, Sofiane Compaorg, Mark Unger and Tyler Edson won the men’s 4x800 relay with a time of 7:28.84, while Richmond’s team of Dylan Miller, Madison Trippett, Elizabeth Stockman and Morgan Lyons won the women’s race at 8:42.18.
 
Harvard’s 4x400 relay squad of Aaron Shirley, Gregory Lapit, Peter Diebold and Lance Ward (3:06.74) came away with the men’s win, and the Richmond group of Gabrielle Cummings, Elke van der Westhuizen, Ginny Beringer and Caroline Donohoe closed out the afternoon with a women’s win behind a time of 3:43.02.
