ECAC Announces Riders of the Week Ending January 26
DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Equestrian Riders of the Week for the week ending January 26.
Fences: Jessie Rechs - UC Davis
Going second in the event riding Bear, senior Jessie Rechs scored an 85 for her equitation over the Fences in a thrilling matchup versus Delaware State. She won against her Hornet opponent with a 23-point differential and also took home the MOP award in the event.
Flat: Maggie Franke - UC Davis
With a fascinating 31-point difference, grad student Margaret "Maggie" Franke played a hand in the 5-0 Aggie sweep on the Flat versus the Minnesota Crookston Eagles. Her performance was scored a brilliant 84, and she took home the MOP award in the event.
Horsemanship: Madison Wojcek - University of Minnesota Crookston
To kick off this weekend, sophomore Madison Wojcek rode Fresno State's "Flynn" second to a score of 71, beating her opponent by 1.5 points. Wojcek then went on to UC Davis where she rode UCD's "Bella" to a score of 75, besting her opponent by 1 point and earning MOP honors in the event. This was Wojcek's first career MOP honor in the Horsemanship, and this MOP award helped Crookston surpass their previous record for single-season MOP's. After her performances in the Horsemanship this weekend, Wojcek currently holds a 4-1 record against ECAC opponents, with all 4 wins occurring on the road.
Reining: Anna Payne - Delaware State (Pictured)
Anna had a great weekend on the road winning two of her reining points and earning one MOP. Anna outscored FSU's Brogan Hill by .5 while earning the MOP. She also bested her UMNC opponent on neutral ground by 1.5 points helping her team secure a win on the road
