Juniata Shuts Out William Paterson to Advance to ECAC Championship
NEWARK, N.J. - The Eagles of Juniata College collected a 1-0 victory over William Paterson University on Saturday afternoon in the semifinal round of the 2025 DIII ECAC Men’s Soccer Championship. The match was played at Frederick Douglass Stadium on the campus of Rutgers University-Newark.
Juniata scored the eventual game-winning goal early on as senior Gavin Rauhut scored his fifth goal of the season in just the fourth minute of play. Junior teammate Ryan Angelone assisted on the goal.
After building the 1-0 lead at intermission, the Eagles held on for the shutout despite eight second-half shots from William Paterson. Juniata goalkeeper Maxwell Mattioni recorded five saves in the winning effort.
Juniata improved to 9-5-7 overall, while William Paterson concludes its season with a 10-9-3 record.
The Eagles will now face off against Rutgers-Newark tomorrow, Nov. 23, at Noon.
