DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2015 Division III New England Men’s Soccer All-Star Team, as voted on by representatives from the region’s member institutions.
Sean Bingham from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology earned Offensive Player of the Year honors, with Amir Pasic of Castleton University taking home the award for Defensive Player of the Year. Forward Bryan Brasil of Worcester State University captured Rookie of the Year, while Ken Bovell (MIT) was selected as the 2015 ECAC DIII New England Coach of the Year.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Sean Bingham – Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sr., Forward
The 2015 NEWMAC Athlete of the Year for men’s soccer, Bingham capped off a glittering collegiate career with 46 points on 18 goals and 10 assists. The senior also accounted for eight game-winning tallies on the year, as he helped the Engineers reach the NCAA Tournament this fall.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Amir Pasic – Castleton University, Sr., Goalkeeper
The 2015 North Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Pasic anchored a Spartans defense that conceded just four goals in conference play. The senior ended the season with a 12-5-1 record, eight shutouts, a .640 goals against average and a save percentage of .878, with his GAA and save percentage representing the best marks of any goalkeeper in the NAC.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Bryan Brasil – Worcester State University, Fr., Forward
Brasil posted 25 points in his first collegiate season, recording 10 goals and five assists in 16 games played. The 2015 MASCAC Rookie of the Year finished the year ranked in the top three in all major offensive categories.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Ken Bovell – Massachusetts Institute of Technology
In his first year at the helm of the MIT men's soccer team, Bovell led the Engineers to an overall record of 15-1-1, including a perfect 7-0-0 mark in conference play during the regular season. Bovell helped MIT reach the third round of the NCAA Tournament, the farthest the Engineers have advanced since reaching the Elite Eight in 2003. Under his guidance, MIT broke 11 program records this season, garnered five All-NEWMAC selections, three CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and one NSCAA All-America First Team honoree.
