The 2017-18 season marks the third start for Meghan O'Brien as Director of Marketing & Communications at the ECAC. O’Brien has been a member of the President & CEO's senior management team since she joined the staff in June 2015.

O'Brien, also known as the Executive Director of #ECACD3FBFEST, oversees all external relations for the ECAC. She leads the communications team in all areas of digital & social media and other communications efforts for the Conference. O'Brien manages all the ECAC's special events, marketing, sponsorships, merchandising, licensing and branding.

Prior to her arrival at the ECAC, O'Brien oversaw all marketing and communications at St. Francis Brooklyn as the Director of Athletic Marketing and Senior Woman Administrator from 2007-2015. This included oversight and leadership for special events, sponsorships, contracts, the athletics communications office and ticket office.

During her tenure with the Terriers, O’Brien orchestrated numerous successful events for the department, including Athletic Alumni Day, Shoot for a Cure and the Athletic Awards Banquet. She was key to building relationships with various alumni groups and rebranded the Terrier Club. In the fall of 2012, O’Brien spearheaded the ongoing athletic logo rebranding efforts for the college. She and her team were instrumental in fan engagement and all promotional activities for men’s soccer and men’s and women’s basketball.

As a senior staff supervisor, O’Brien oversaw the athletic communications office and the publicity for all 19 Division I teams and helped develop and implement new digital content for the department website, and the Terrier Sports Network. As Senior Woman Administrator, she ensured gender equality for women’s athletics in compliance with Title IX and was the sports administrator for men’s and women’s swimming and women’s water polo. O’Brien also served as the co-chair of the NEC Sport Management Committee and was the liaison to outdoor track and field.

Prior to being promoted to Director of Athletic Marketing and SWA, O’Brien began as an administrative assistant upon graduating from SUNY Oneonta in 2006. Her responsibilities included administrative duties and team operations.

At SUNY Oneonta, O’Brien earned a BS in Communications with a minor in Sports Management while serving as a student-assistant for the Red Dragons’ Sports Information Department.

O’Brien is an active member of CoSIDA, ECAC-SIDA, NACMA, NACDA, and NACWAA. She currently serves on the CoSIDA Continuing Education and CoSIDA U Committees and is the Conference's represenative on the ECAC-SIDA executive board.
