Patriots, Bulldogs collect XC titles in New York

BRONX, N.Y. – The 2024 IC4A/ECAC Cross Country Championship took place on Friday morning, with the George Mason men and the women of Yale taking home the team titles. 26 member institutions were represented at the event, which was held at Van Cortlandt Park and hosted by Fordham University.

FULL RESULTS 
 
George Mason senior Wesley Bond hauled in the men’s individual crown with a time of 24:29.0, with Lehigh’s Kevin Harvey 24:36.5) coming in second with a new season-best. Harvard freshman Will Brunner (24:38.1) held off teammate Noah Ward (24:39.8) for third place, while Harry Marson of Bucknell (24:41.6) rounded out the top five.
 
Biruk Beardsley (24:45.5) and Gavin Mogck (24:47.6) picked up seventh and eighth respectively, giving George Mason three of the top eight individuals. Tarek Benlamkaddem (24:52.5, 13th) and Alex Deroussel (25:14.9, 32nd) helped George Mason to a first-place finish, totaling 61 points to edge Harvard’s team total of 73.
 
On the women’s side, Fairfield freshman Hannah Snayd made a splash in the first championship race of her collegiate career, shaving 19 seconds off her previous career-best to grab the individual title with a time of 20:41.9. Claire Archer (20:50.7), a junior from Yale, earned second place, followed by Eugenia Fairhurst (21:10.0) of UMass Amherst.  
 
For Yale, Linde Fonville (21:15.8) was the second individual to wrap up her race, while Charlotte Whitehurst (21:19.3) gave the Bulldogs a trio of top ten finishers. Hebe Chadwick (21:32.2) and Iris Bergman (21:40.1) picked up 16th and 18th to round out the Yale scoring with a team score of 53.

The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast.
