LEWISBURG, Pa. – The 2026 ECAC Open Championship came to a close on Sunday evening, with Navy winning both the men’s and women’s team titles after leading throughout the weekend. The women totaled 818 points, while the men racked up 995, with both finishing more than 300 points ahead of second place.
Penn’s Maggie Straley began Sunday’s action with a win in the women’s 1650 free, as her time of 16:48.52 was 36 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. Yonatan Ahdut of NJIT followed came in first on the men’s side, producing a time of 15:17.79.
Penn teammates Olivia Safarikova (1:58.10) and Charlotte Holliday (1:59.62) turned in a 1-2 finish in the women’s 200 back, with Torun McGillis of Delaware (2:00.17) rounding out the top three. Loyola’s Joe Hayburn set a new meet record in the men’s race, winning the event with a finals time of 1:42.84.
The women’s 100 free saw Bucknell take three of the top four individual spots on the podium, highlighted by champion Jennifer Bolden (50.55). Hayburn produced his second meet record in as many races in the men’s 100 free, as his mark of 42.93 was enough to hold off a trio of Midshipmen.
Corinne Warriner (2:12.67) and Marley Barnard (2:14:28) gave Navy the top two in the women’s 200 back, with Bucknell’s Kelly Byrne (2:15.76) rounding out the top three. Noah Robinson (1:56.11) took home the men’s crown, with Bucknell teammates Colin Zhang (2:00.54) and Neo Matsuyama (2:01.16) taking second and third respectively.
In the women’s 200 fly, Ruitong Zhang (1:59.87) picked up the individual crown, followed by teammate Caroline Cancelmo (2:05.67). Navy took home each of the top three spots on the men’s side, with Evan O’Dea leading the pack at 1:44.77.
The Bucknell squad of Kyla Kelly, Ashley Placentino, Hanna Klingensmith and Jennifer Bolden combined for a finals time of 3:25.37 to win the women’s 400 free relay. The Penn men’s team of Truman Armstrong, Vincent Vinciguerra, Kevin Jiang and Ryan McGuirk closed out the meet with a time of 2:58.28 to win the men’s event.
At the conclusion of the meet, Zhang was named the Women’s Swimmer of the Meet, while Hayburn collected the Men’s award. Navy coaches John Morrison (women) and Bill Roberts (men) received Coach of the Meet honors.
